Aside from The Beatles, Badfinger was the best group to come out of Apple records.....and the most tragic. formed
in Wales as the ivey's, Badfinger was Pete Ham, Tom Evans,
Joey Molland and Ron Griffiths, Bob Jackson and Joe Tansin were also in the line-up.
Like all groups Badfinger's line-up changed over the years until hitting gold with The Beatles and Apple Records.
IN 1968 THE BEATLES DECIDED THAT THEY COULD BETTER OVERSEE THEIR CAREER AND BUSINESS NOW THAT BRIAN WAS GONE. WHAT COULD GO WRONG? WELL,IT SEEM'S ANYTHING THAT COULD GO WRONG DID.
MUSICALLY THERE WAS NO PROBLEM "THE BEATLES'" BADFINGER,MARY HOPKIN, ALL SOLD MILLIONS OF UNITS AROUND THE WORLD, BUT NOW THE FOUR MEN WHO HAD FOR SO LONG HAD DEPENDED ON ONE MAN TO RUN THE BUSINESS END HAD FOUND THAT IT WASN'T EASY ...OR FUN. JOHN HAD MADE THE COMMENT THAT "THE BEATLES WILL BE BROKE IN A FEW MONTH'S. IT PROBABLY WASN'T TO FAR FROM THE TRUTH AT THE TIME. WHEN APPLE WAS AT THAT TIME WINDING DOWN THEY LOOKED AT THE BOOKS AND FOUND THAT APPLE OWNED HOES,CARS AND JUST ABOUT ANYTHING IN BETWEEN. THERE WAS SO LITTLE CONTROL OVER FUNDS THAT IF YOU WALKED IN OFF THE STREET WITH A REALLY BIZARRE IDEA CHANCES ARE THEY WOULD FUND IT. A GREAT THING IF YOU ARE IN THE BUSINESS OF GIVING MONEY AWAY,BUT THIS WAS A RECORD COMPANY AND THE GOAL WAS TO MAKE A PROFIT.
